BATTLE BORN BEERFEST

Help celebrate Nevada Day by joining in the fun at the Chateau in Incline Village for the Third Annual Battle Born BeerFest and Chili Cook-off on Friday, October 27 from 4 - 8pm. This event is a fundraiser hosted by the Rotary Club of Tahoe-Incline. Tickets are $40 for beer and chili tasting and a chance to win a Diamond Peak season pass in the Grand Prize Drawing (the winner need not be present to win). Western dress is encouraged, or simply jeans and maybe a pair of cowboy boots. Country Western music and line dancing will be provided by Vaquera Vikki.

Many Incline organizations collaborate to create this true community event.  Approximately a dozen local restaurants are entering their own special chili into this “People’s Choice” award competition. Among the participants are Boys and Girls Club North Lake Tahoe, the Chateau, Crosby’s, Tahoe Truckee Hospital, Sierra Nevada College, Biltmore Cafe, Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, Let’s Eat Inspired Catering, Gus’ Open Pit Barbecue, and Spindleshanks.

Local and regional craft breweries are donating their beer to the cause. Alibi, FiftyFifty, Anchor Steam, Amador Brewing Company and and Revision Brewing Company are all represented.

Sponsors for this event include Menath Insurance Company, Incline Village Hospital Foundation, Tahoe Biltmore and Casino, Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, Sierra Nevada College and IVGID/Diamond Peak. Numerous local businesses are donating raffle and auction prizes. Most notably, IVGID/Diamond Peak is contributing a season pass for the grand prize drawing.

This is the third year the Rotary Club has held this event. “It gives people a chance to come together for a good cause and have fun”, said Linda Offerdahl, event organizer.

The Rotary Club of Tahoe-Incline, also known as the morning Rotary Club, primarily raises money for local education and youth groups such as the Boy Scouts. As well as funding specific projects at all of the schools, Rotary also sponsors a music and speech contest and a leadership program for 8th – 12th grade students. Through Rotary International, local club members have also donated funds to vaccinate children against polio, provided mosquito netting to families in Africa, purchased a digital x-ray machine for a hospital in Tanzania, and contributed to mangrove reforestation in the Philippines, as well as numerous other important causes.

Tickets are available from members of the Rotary Club of Tahoe-Incline, at Potlatch, online at www.BattleBornBeerFest.com and at the door. For more information or to donate a raffle prize or auction item, please contact Linda Offerdahl at linda@offerdahl.com.
