At our meeting on July 10, we had the pleasure of hearing from our new member, Diane Ferrell, who shared her inspiring vocational journey with us. It was heartwarming to learn how her positivity has shaped her life. Starting at 9, Diane embarked on a meaningful adventure with the Camp Fire Girls, going door-to-door in her small Missouri community to sell dates topped with almonds as a fundraiser. Her determination and charm helped her raise the most funds and revealed her natural ability to connect with others, much to her parents' delight.

Diane's journey continued as she earned a degree with honors from the University of Missouri in fashion and merchandising. After gaining valuable experience in the industry, she took a leap of faith and launched her own fashion and merchandising business. Along the way, she also found joy in teaching these subjects at a local community college. Her passion shone through in the fashion shows she organized with her students, often leading to promising job offers for them. She wisely stated that “Opening one door can lead to others,” reflecting her belief in the power of opportunities.

Diane's heart truly shines in her fundraising efforts, especially for women's and children's causes. She creatively identified ways for restaurants closed or not open for dinner to offer culinary experiences for donors, making it a cherished and successful venture.

Diane enjoys a fulfilling family life at home with her husband, three adult children, and ten grandchildren, who undoubtedly bring her immense joy. With her love for cooking and late-night reading, she finds happiness in life’s simple pleasures. Diane emphasizes that “the best part of working together” during fundraising is being part of a team, and she consistently proves that we can achieve remarkable things with a positive attitude. Her story reminds us of the profound impact we can have on each other’s lives.
