The winners of the local Rotary club speech contest are as follows:
First Place: Serena Faulkner, IHS 9th grader $150
Second Place: Carolyn Eppolito, IHS 10th grader $100
Third place: Harmony Bates, IHS 12th grader $50.
Emily Donahue and Matthew Cornell competed as well.
All five contestants did an excellent job in describing “What ‘Rotary Serving Humanity’ means, personally, and in my own words.”
Serena Faulkner and Carolyn Eppolito will compete in the Rotary Area III (Incline Village, Truckee, and Tahoe City) contest on April 18 at Truckee High School at 5pm. The Area III Music contest is held at the same time and location. Anyone interested is welcome to attend.
The Area 3 winner will seek the top spots at the 2017 District 5190 Conference held at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa on May 20. Prizes at the district level are $1,000 for 1st place, $750 for 2nd place and $500 for 3rd place.
