WEND SCHAEFER ANNOUNCES DIGITAL X-RAY GLOBAL GRANT APPROVAL

The Rotary Club of Tahoe Incline has been awarded a global grant of $42,000 to fund the installation of modern digital x-ray equipment at the Kagondo St. Joseph Hospital in Northwest Tanzania. The digital x-ray system, which will replace the old chemically-dependent system, and will greatly advance the diagnostic capabilities at the St Joseph Hospital. X-ray images will be conveyed to a television screen in the hospital conference room for daily staff review.  High quality imaging is essential to maintain St. Joseph Hospital as the leading center in the area for treating orthopedic conditions and injuries from motor vehicles which are now of epidemic proportions in the developing nations of Africa.
 
The project is being funded jointly with four other Rotary Clubs: Solvang (California), Santa Inez Valley (California),  Sheboygan Early Bird (Wisconsin) and Anthem (Arizona).  Rotary District 5190 and The Rotary Foundation are other major contributors to this project.
